I'm so so so so happy today.
For the very ever first time in my whole entire life, today was the day that I laid my hands on a Mac (mind you, it's not any other ordinary Mac, but it's the Power Mac G5)!
It was simply love at first sight.
Being an AEP student is just so rewarding. We have a media lab exclusively for AEPs only, dominated with Power Macs compactly sitting on the wooden tables.

The verdict
The verdict is finally out.
The gear box was the cause of the problem...and that freaking damnned gear box costs a whopping 4k (mind you, my family ain't loaded)!
My dad had no choice but to rent a car while the poor Odyssey is in the workshop. Estimated time: 5 days to repair...
He rented a silver Toyota Corolla for 80 bucks per day. That dug a deep hole in his pocket...

What luck
A 3 year old Honda Odyssey MPV.
Doesn’t sound as if it would be a potential problematic vehicle.
Ok so it’s not really new...but neither is it a prehistoric car. The Proton Wira is what I deem extremely old, and it’s still IN the market. I can’t believe it! But as critics would have expected, no sane person would buy a Wira.
Ok I’m starting to stray off my topic…
But what if the 3 year old Honda Odyssey has a very, very high mileage? Car parts would get worn out easily.
And that’s what happened to my dad’s Honda today. The freaking, supposedly reliable big elephant had to give problems when I was ON MY WAY TO SCHOOL!!!! Gear or transmission problems to be specific. When the car halts, there will be this sudden vibration which jerks the car (not that jerk caused by inertia).
The problem surfaced a few days ago, so he planned to send the car to Kah motors today for an inspection after sending me to school. But that Odyssey decided all of a sudden to misbehave on the road.
When we were somewhere near Kallang MRT, the green D (drive) light on the dashboard started flashing. Sensing something amiss, he had no choice but to stop the car and call for AA, after sending me off in a taxi.
Damn it! I waited for roughly 10 freaking minutes before finally hailing a yellow Nissan Cedric. And as you would have guessed, I was LATE for school.
For the very FIRST time in my life in VS!
Let’s hope the problem is nothing serious or major…
So disappointed in Honda…It’s a JAPANESE vehicle and it started giving problems when it’s only 3 years. But then again, like I said earlier, that car has a rather high mileage…My father travels everyday.
After all, maybe age is catching on. Is it time for my dad to get a new MPV now as COE prices have recently dropped again?
If the answer is a yes, I would probably pester him to get the new Honda Odyssey (the sleek futuristic one) or the Nissan Presage Highway Star or the Mitsubishi Grandis.
But for now that can only be my wish.

Today
Today...
I got started on history revision. There's still a long, long way to go though...
Today...
I visited my family doc AGAIN, just to get more medicine for my cough and phlegm. That wasted 45 minutes of my life.
Today...
I downloaded 5566's Hao Jiu Bu Jian. Sounds really like a Chinese New Year song...but it's still nice.
Today...
I had 0 messages in all my emails, Yahoo, Gmail and Hotmail. Seldom this happens.
Today...
I woke up at 8.30 coz there was no BB.
Today...
I had my Chinese tuition.
Now...
I have to stop blogging and continue my revision.
That's all folks!

Free and legal...
I love Chinese pop songs. Totally.
Yet I can't bear to part with rougly $20 for each album I like. I will run dry if I buy a few CDs a month.
So what's the free, legal and good alternative?
Downloads. As a matter of fact, I just started downloading music a few months ago, when I chanced upon a free and legal China website, which has virtually ANY Chinese song you can think of. I mean it, almost any song.
The song list is updated almost immediately after a new album is released.
Today I downloaded Wu Yue Tian's Zhi Zu...and that song is simply beautiful. Think this is their first song that I like...was never a big fan of this rock band.
Well, if you are wondering what this amazing China website is...
then I'm afraid to tell you I shall keep mum.
My lips are sealed. Haha...

Two thumbs up
There’s something that I can’t hide anymore. I can’t control it. It’s overwhelming. It’s overflowing. I have to announce it to the whole world. I enjoy it so much that I’m kinda addicted to it. I want to say that…
I LOVE BLOGGING!!!!!!
Yes I really do love blogging! This is my fifth post and I think that it is truly rewarding and meaningful to blog. (To all you non-bloggers out there, I hope my blog has inspired you to start your own blog too!)
Imagine that 3 years from now, you go back to your archives and read the post you wrote 3 years before. You rapturously exclaim: “Hey I hiked in Pulau Ubin on the 17 September 2005!” or “Hey I did this on that particular day!”
To me, the fuzzy and warm feeling that you get from reading your previous post and re-living them in your mind is the greatest pleasure and reward from blogging. To evoke back past memories, experiences and emotions gives me a sense of satisfaction that cannot be fully described using words. It is an emotional reaction that even I myself fail to comprehend.
I have never regretted setting up this blog just a couple of days ago. Like what the catchy MacDonald’s slogan says: I’M LOVIN IT!
Scream Out Loud!

Ubin hike
Today was a tiring but fun-filled day. My CCA (Boys’ Brigade if you haven't already know) organized a hike at Pulau Ubin for us sec 2s for us to attain our adventure stage 2 badge and to clear our first aid stage 2 practical. It lasted from early in the morning at 8 till 3 in the afternoon.
We were split into different teams of about 3 or 4, given 18 checkpoints scattered all over the island, and competed to see who emerged with the most points. The points for each checkpoint ranged between 10 to 200.
Of course that team would be the winner and every member would receive a prize.
And never did I ever expect that my team of 3 would emerge champions. It was a pleasant surprise. Receiving a black air pillow and an Swiss army knife each sure made the rest of the teams envious. Fortunately I was relatively well-versed and famaliar with Ubin.
The tedious hike drained my physical energy and got me stinky, sweaty and dirty. The scorching hot sun blazing down on us made the hike an uncomfortable one. Thick mud and disgusting brown soil impeded our journey occasionally. But despite all the challenges, it was worth it.
Definitely.
I have learnt valuable lessons like trust, teamwork and proper planning. These are lessons that only can be learnt through real-life experiences like this. I have also got to know my team mates, Matthew and James better. We all have weaknesses and strengths. The key to succeed in a team is to use other’s strengths and minimize their weakness, and most crucially, to have a positive outlook.
What might seem as a small island on the map isn’t that small in reality!

I dislike Microsoft

Look around you, and you’ll notice that almost everyone everywhere owns a computer running on the ever-so-common Windows XP operation system by Microsoft. Most of them have never experienced the true pleasure of computing.
Well, not unless they have laid their hands on a Mac.
That’s why more people are turning to Apple when it comes to quality, user-friendly and more powerful computers. I bet you Bill is getting really worried that the once mainstream OS giant would topple overnight, explaining why they are rushing to get their new OS Windows Vista released as quickly as possible.
Sadly, I’m still your average Microsoft XP user, facing the same old frustrating glitches and problems with the system. On the bright side of things, I will be getting a Mac at year-end. I’m tired of Microsoft.
Firstly, Windows are so vulnerable to viruses, spyware, adware, malware, and trojan horses that any machine without an anti-virus software installed will not be able to last more than half a year. I mean it. The main reason why most Windows users switch to Mac is because of more security against unwanted viruses and programs. And that’s the main reason why I’m switching too. But having said that, it doesn't mean that Macs are 100% virus free. It’s just that the chances of a virus getting onto a Mac is very, very slim.
Recently, my Norton anti-virus 2005 is giving me problems again…for the second time. It is unable to update my worm protection signatures. Ai yah so irritating!
Macs are so much more beautiful and stylish when it comes to design. The latest Mac mini has only a CPU measuring 16.51cm by 16.51cm by 5cm! It’s compact, professional and clean design makes it an irresistible computer that everyone wishes to own. And with prices starting from just a mere S$928, yes that’s right S$928, I don’t see why affordability is an obstacle. Unlike the standard Windows PC with a bulky, large and heavy CPU that takes up so much space!
As for speed and productivity, Macs do not lose out to Windows in any way. There’s always this misbelieve that Macs are not compatible with Windows. That is definitely not true, at least from what I know so far.
With so much great benefits, I don’t see why the next computer you’re going to purchase must be a Windows, unless you are so ever faithful to Microsoft that you will not even try venturing into something new! And it’s pointless to wait for Vista…there is nothing really much to expect.
Change is good!

My first post on my first blog
This is my first ever post on a blog!!! I'm so exhilarated...this is the beginning of my blogging life!
So some of u may be wonderin...why on earth did I sign up for a blog? I have listed down some reasons below:
1) Peer pressure. I must admit that I've succumbed to it. Almost everybody owns their own personal blog nowadays. Two of my close friends and schoolmates, Mu Yao (aka cat) and Weng Keong, have influenced me greatly in blogging.
2) I have never felt the excitement in blogging before, and since setting up a blog is so easy, I thought that it would be fun to start my own blog. It gives me a sense of pride and satisfaction too in knowing that I do have my individual blog.
3) A blog acts as an online journal (except that the public can view it) and I believe that it is a good way of expressing your thoughts and feelings, as well as recording down memorable and meaningful events that took place.
4) It helps improve my writing skills. Every post is just like a short essay where I can practice penning my thoughts and feelings and polish up my english. Who knows...it may help me in my composition writing! lol...
I truly hope that you will enjoy browsing through my blog!
