God is truth

"I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." -John 14:6

This verse is a common one. It is simple to understand, yet it contains a very fundamental truth (pun intended) that some may miss.

This verse reveals to us that God is truth. Truth is not some knowledge, some idea, rule or religion. Truth is a person. Truth is Jesus Christ. Thus, when we seek the truth in our Christian walk, we are seeking Christ.

But then you may ask, since truth is a person, does that mean that the Bible is not truth? After all, a person cannot be a book. The answer is that both God and His word is truth. This is because in John 1, it is written that "God's word became flesh", implying that God and His word are essentially the same thing.
