AWESOME SONG! From their upcoming album Faith+Hope+Love!
Verse 1:
You inhabit the praises of Your people
You delight in the glory of Your son
In the love of the Father we will worship
In the kingdom of God we find our hope
Bridge:
The wonder of Your love will break the chains that bind us
The power of Your touch releases us to worship
Chorus:
Sing out to God
Sing hallelujah
WIth all we are we will worship You
Holy is Your name
Holy is Your name oh God
Verse 2:
And together we lift the name of Jesus
And together we'll sing of Your great love
We will join with the angels to praise You
Let our voices be pleasing to You God

Sing To The Lord - Hillsong 08
Another awesome worship song from 'This Is Our God'! (Figured out the chords myself.)

You Are Here (The Same Power)
Video of me strumming 'You Are Here (The Same Power)', a new track on Hillsong's latest release 'This Is Our God'. I figured out the chords by myself. Enjoy!
Not perfect I'm aware, but worship doesn't need to be perfect as long as it's true. (:

This Is Our God: Thoughts

Finally I have my hands on Hillsong's newest release, This Is Our God, their 17th live praise and worship album! According to Wikipedia, it was recorded live at the Acer Arena on 9 March 2008 by the Hillsong Live team with a crowd of over 10,000 worshippers.
There are a total of 16 tracks, and honestly speaking, I absolutely love EVERY single one of them. Special mention goes to 'You Are Here (The Same Power)', which is a wonderful, wonderful, simple and short song; it spoke volumes to me when I first heard it.
The lyrics goes like this:
The same power that conquered the grave
Lives in me
Lives in me
Your love that rescued the earth
Lives in me
Lives in me
To me, this song is a form of encouragement that every problem that I face in life can be conquered, simply because the mighty power of God that conquered the grave lives in me. It is a humbling thought that left me awe-struck... and gives me the assurance in every circumstance I'm in.
Other songs that particularly left a deep impression on me were 'Healer' and 'Stronger'. Absolutely touching songs which proclaim God's truths. I haven't heard the entire album, but I can say confidently that this is definitely THE worship album this year which will bring me closer to God.

This Is Our God - Desert Song (Testimony)
Verse 1:
This is my prayer in the desert
When all that's within me feels dry
This is my prayer in my hunger and need
My God is the God who provides
Verse 2:
This is my prayer in the fire
In weakness or trial or pain
There is a faith proved of more worth than gold
So refine me Lord through the flame
Chorus:
I will bring praise, I will bring praise
No weapon formed against me shall remain
I will rejoice, I will declare
God is my victory and He is here
Verse 3:
This is my prayer in the battle
When triumph is still on its way
I am a conqueror and co-heir with Christ
So firm on His promise I'll stand
Bridge:
All of my life
In every season
You are still God
I have a reason to sing
I have a reason to worship
Verse 4:
This is my prayer in the harvest
When favour and providence flow
I know I'm filled to be emptied again
The seed I've received I will sow
'Desert Song' from the new release 'This Is Our God' is sung by Brooke Fraser and Jill McCloghry. This is one extremely powerful song, especially the bridge, but watching the Youtube video above showed me the shocking background behind this song.
About a week and a half before the recording, Jill McCloghry gave birthed to her premature son. And on that night, he died because he was too small. But even under this saddening circumstance she never questioned God's existence, and continued to worship and sing unto Him. It is encouraging how her faith wasn't shaken, and I'm so touched by her testimony, however short.
To me, this song tells me to never stop giving praise no matter what, because in every season, all of my life, God will always be that same God, no matter whatever happens. And because of that, we have a reason to sing. So always tell yourself in the most dire of situations, that 'I will bring praise, I will bring praise..."

Stronger - Hillsong 2008
Did a bit of singing and strumming today and recorded a Christian song that I love! 'Stronger' is a new song in Hillsong's latest album 'This Is Our God', which will be released in July. Apologies for my less-than-perfect singing, but I really enjoyed creating this!
Here are the chords that I figured out by myself:

Hillsong 2008: This is Our God
Earlier this year at the Acer Arena, Hillsong Australia recorded their 17th annual live album, set to be released on the 7th July. As of now this album will be titled 'This is Our God', and contains a collection of brand new songs with a few songs borrowed from United, such as 'You Deserve', which first appeared on the EP 'In A Valley By The Sea'.
I'm so excited about this new album, there are some crappy videos on YouTube where you can't hear anything, but as always, I trust that Hillsong will churn out something amazing. Felix Clack writes on his site that this album will be much more 'United-ish'... and as with the last few years, there is less and less of Darlene as she gets more involved with doing tours and stuff. There is fresh new talent in Hillsong, exploding with the passion to worship with song and praise, that's wonderful, but my concern is that Hillsong cannot neglect the more traditional listeners, people like my parents who complain that Hillsong is 'noisy'.
In contrast to those old songs from albums such as 'For This Cause', I must say that the style has changed a lot. Today Hillsong is much more rock. But I like it anyway, just that sometimes I really want that old style back, and that's where I turn to the old albums, and the song 'Reaching For You' still seems to be one of my favourite.
Great stuff... This is Our God indeed! I'm awaiting in anticipation!

United: With Hearts As One
As part of Hillsong United's I Heart Revolution, they have released their 9th album entitled 'With Hearts As One', the first out of a two part release. What this album entails is basically live recordings of the songs they sang during their tours all over the world, from Brazil to Africa to China to Japan and even Malaysia. These songs aren't new songs, but songs which originally appeared from past albums, dating back to albums as old as 'More Than Life'. Some have been played differently, so it's still refreshing. Way cool, but more importantly, it's amazing to witness how God uses people to spread the faith.
I always love live albums because I can feel the atmosphere and the voices of the congregation, as if I was there. So currently this album is available in the US and Australia, but there is no clue if it's ever going to make it to our shores. I badly want this album, so I hope it really comes.
In my attempts to find an answer, I dropped Hillsong an email asking them, and what they replied was this: For more information on the release of this album in your country please contact Alby Enterprises. Haha, guess they don't know too?
Oh and I found this new Hillsong song, Your Name High, on YouTube.

Thank you, Hillsong
Scroll through my iTunes library now, and out of the 547 songs taking up 2.79 GB, 154 songs are by Hillsong and Hillsong United (the youth branch of Hillsong). Clearly, Christian music, especially Hillsong songs, has contributed to a very large percentage of the music I listen to.
And they have released two new albums recently, both of which I only knew of today!

Hillsong released Saviour King and United released All Of The Above (an uncanny title which is also shared with an album by Youth Alive WA). Kelvin bluetoothed most of the songs to my phone today, and now they are stored on my iPod to keep my bus rides company.
Hmm I must say that Hillsong is my favourite band! Not so much because they produce good music, yes they definitely do, but more because many of their songs throughout many albums have touched and changed my life. For example, At The Cross, From The Inside Out and Mighty To Save from Mighty To Save have a special meaning to me personally, these are songs that I treasure because they have comforted me and helped me draw closer to God.
I have seen Hillsong mature from their first few albums all the way till now. In their later albums, I could really sense true, genuine, sincere and passionate worship in their live albums. These two new additions are no exception, even though All Of The Above is a studio production. However, what concerns me is that Hillsong is being more and more like United in terms of musical style, leaning more towards the pop rock side, hence I don’t blame my dad (and many more adults) when they complain that Hillsong is too “rock” for their more “quiet” taste. Indeed, Hillsong has grown to be very much more pop, but still, all their songs are great for worship as a means to connect to God. The lyrics are still as meaningful and they continue to reveal different truths every time. They are my source of strength, encouragement and motivation.
Hillsong has shown me revelations, one after another, so keep it up, keep praising the Lord, and thank you! You have been a blessing to me! Oh...get those new songs if you haven't, they are phenomenal!
